A Memory

On February 23, 2006, four co-workers went up to the roof of their office building to watch the historic moment when the RMS Queen Mary 2 arrived in Long Beach, California to salute her predecessor, RMS Queen Mary, which was retired from service in 1967 and permanently docked at the Port of Long Beach where she continues to exist as a hotel and museum.  This is the view I looked out on every day for 22 years as an office worker/secretary/administrative assistant.  Not a bad place to make a living!  Those who have met me know which of these four ladies is yours truly; for those who don't, I am the tall one.  In fact, I still am the tall one, but certainly not this young looking anymore.  We are all long-retired now!

Seashells

A (very) small dish of seashells,

gathered on a beach in Greece a year ago

not by me

but by a dear friend.

This little stone heart above is smaller than my thumbnail.

Miniature pebbles and stones, and a seashell or two . . .

Lovely little things to delight and enchant.

I'm dreaming of Greece.

I've never been there and may never visit, but who knows?

I would go to see the ancient sites and the churches and monasteries.

A Whirlwind Weekend

365 photos later,
I am back home from a whirlwind weekend:
50 hours spent gallivanting all over northeast Utah.

Autumn is beautiful there....

And my hosts were good friends....
....and marvelous tour guides too....

Here are a few highlights of what we saw:

I am stunned by all the beauty
and also by the fact that all this incredible variety
is an easy drive away from Salt Lake City.

I think I want to leave the beach behind
and move to this place where
the air is always clean!

I am still processing my whirlwind visit
in my heart and mind
and hope to blog more about it soon.
